My apologies, and ably demonstrating my earlier post at not being an expert in these things, I offer an Eric Morcambe-esque defense.

I correctly quoted The Economist, just not necessarily the right column of the table I read :-)
No worries, but you can see why things "appear" better over there. They tried sorted their shit out at the right time.

I'm not party political but Brown is a **** of the highest order and royally fucked us in so many various ways. I hope his other eye falls out.

I am in two minds about this, it will push up inflation, it did last time and the BOE expects it to do so, it's really a mini bank bail out again, with the BOE buying lots of the junk assets that the banks hold as well as GILTS and Bonds.

I can see the logic in giving everyone 4k each, but there is no guarantee that this would be spent on British goods, it most likely be spent on imported consumer goods and would have a more detrimental effect on inflation.

However inflation is the debtors friend, if the government can inject some growth into the economy as well the debts become smaller bad news if you are a saver though

If you are a saver then you need to get out of deposit based accounts pronto.

Where to? Well that's a decision that is personal to every individual and worth a chat with a reputable IFA.

Only really China, India and Russia that have massive growing GDP, due to the fact they can employ people on 7p a decade and sack them for being 5 milliseconds late

So what is it that Germany seem to be getting right? Read the Economist the other day and it seemed to show they had a GDP growth of +8%, whereas ours was 0.7%?

Not an economic expert by any stretch of the imagination, but surely it can't do any harm to at least have a look-see at what Gerry's up to?

Look outside your window and tell me how many German made cars you see? Probably the biggest industrial nation in Europe. We were like that once but swapped it all for the financial system
i see a ford focus , ford fiesta and a nissan almera
