Is it me or is there miles better talent coming through in spain than England?

You look at Barcelona and their squad

Valdes - Came through the ranks
Puyol - Came through the ranks
Pique - Although he was sold and bought back from the scum he came through their ranks
Xavi - Through the ranks
Iniesta - Through the ranks
Messi - Through the ranks
Pedro - Through the ranks
Jeffren - Through the ranks
Bojan - Through the ranks

Also Fabregas came through their ranks aswell.

Madrid also have

Ramos
Raul
Casillas
Marcelo
Granero etc.....

They have all of this coming through their youth systems and tbh we have basically fuck all in england

gai assulin and jonathan dos santos

The youth system in England should be disbanded, it's a joke.

Arteta - Barca youth reject, couldn't get past Barcelona B. Say it all about how incredible their scouting and youth system is.

Surely with our money we can create the English equivalent?

yeah mate the talent coming out of their youth is breath taking.

and well how can we do that when they simply have more talented players coming through?

More intense and advanced scouting network I'd imagine. We might not find the same amount of talented nationals as they do (although there are many excellent young English prospects out there) but we'd be able to collect some of the best from around the world. Barca just signed a 14-year-old boy called the "Korean Messi" for example.

Ramos didn't come through Madrid's ranks (they signed him from Seville), but that's being pedantic. Barca's youth system is phenomenal and, on a club basis, you can't really compete with it, no shame in that as it's the best in the world by far. On a national level, you just have to acknowledge that the current Spanish generation are better than their English counterparts. Again, no shame in that.

their youth system is simply unreal

Best in the world by far!!

But where does every kid dream of playing for - so if you are the best this is what you aspire to!

There football stadium and youth pickup is incredible!

How many of there stars are home grown! : >

Did Etoo come through Madrid before heading to Mallorca?

I love it when they slip through the net!

Just hope Caiceido isn't going to be a Butanding ; O

to be honest the way of life is a lot different over there as in school start times and finishing times, young lads have more time to play football and have great weather to play football.our young kids dont play football and the ones that do are all coached in the same way because of these sunday league managers who think they are arsene wenger lol.in spain they work alot on technical ability which makes them more controlled and skilled on the ball and more tactical.look at gareth barry for instance,he is probably got the worse technique in the league but is powerful and is a solid midfielder.young coaches in this country just tell a left back to huff the ball up the wing to the strikers in hope they will chase it.

only arsenal try that way but i guess dont have the resources to do it.

barca are incredible but have been top of the tree for years and years and years, we can do that, but it will be 10 years before we see the results imo.

2bh i think our academy products being churned out every year are getting fewer and far between but if we invest the money in facilities and coaches as well as scouts as well as maybe having Jim or someone else in charge of scouting the local pools, we could have the best academy in england.

barca will always be ahead of us because spain is more attractive to south americans and they have more prestige and spanish youngsters are more talented.

watch this space, city are going to become global in there recruitment of young up and coming football talent, i believe they are signing one of, if not the best talent spotters in Gary Worthington from Chelsea, Chelsea having taken him from Leeds united. at the moment Chelsea have put Gary on gardening leave, rather than allow him to go to city before his contract expires

That's because we're getting better though, under Pearce when there was a splurge of youth players getting a game, that was really because we couldn't afford to sign anyone (except Samaras).

The first team can improve rapidly when you get investment, but the Academy will take years to catch up.

The whole culture of English football would need to change to start bringing through so many talented players like they do in Spain, maybe in 50 years time, but it won't happen any time soon.

I don't think there's a lack of talent, it's just missed because other attributes are given more importance and it's harder to display your skill in the fast paced, physical style of game.
