Barcelona Vs City CL 2nd leg Post Match Thread

City are not far away from being a side which can win at the top level in Europe. Great performance tonight. As in the first leg the margins are so tight. A poor refereeing decision in both games had a huge impact. Those who hate us will have their usual field day. But most proper City fans know we are making progress. We have spent a lot less than PSG, Real Madrid and Chelsea in recent years and over a longer period a lot less than United and Liverpool. We need to hold our nerve (whether or not we win the title this year) and buy a strong left-sided centre back, a defensive left back, and cover in midfield. If we do this we can be world-beaters. Forget Jamie Redknapp and the morons in the tabloids anyone with a brain can see we are going places.

And this is not foul?!?

He actually gave them a free kick for that and a minute later Messi scored.

Am I the only one who is most pissed off with the late Alves goal we conceded? I was prepared for being knocked out tonight, but to come away with a creditable 1-1 draw would at least would have been something positive and gained us respect in the football world.

Seems our defence decided to leave the pitch two minutes early however.

Said in the ground when that went in, it would cost us and it has. If we'd lost 1-0 we only had to win tonight which was a real possibility. Going there needing 2 as a minimum was just unrealistic.

That was without a shadow of doubt the most one sided refereeing of a game I have ever seen...
I really thought I was seeing things.
Now I don't want to come across as a softarse and blinkered but he was briefed to put In that display tonight, if he was being assessed he'd be reffing the dog and duck on saturday, an absolutely shocking show and if that's what it takes to keep the big boys In there then fuck em...they can have it all.
Great performance, went there and got in their faces, proud of the boys and big up to the nearly 5000 at the nou camp....

Proud of our boys tonight. I'm losing my patience with the Champions League though. Refereeing is an utter shambles and Pellegrini has been proved right that it's not an even playing field.
Yeah, he'd be entirely justified in having a go at the refereeing again. Gotta be careful though. Any more comments and he might end up with the same punishment that Alan Pardew got for headbutting a player.
Surely the club can lodge a formal complaint (about the standard of refereeing, not the result), with documented evidence? Make it public if need be. Or do we just servilely accept that UEFA is bent as fuck?

Good luck with lodging a complaint. Barcelona had two perfectly good goals ruled out over the two ties plus a stonewall pen turned down. Lescott and Kompany were lucky to stay on the field. Still 4-1

Pretty encouraging. Not there yet but this year's CL performances have been a big improvement.

Barca exposed the fault line we knew we had.

Bent ref? Bollocks. He denied them a stonewall pen too. Just incompetent.

You seem fucking happy...
