Barry named captain for England

Hopefully this will boost his confidence and as for him not being captain material, I always thought he was a decent captain for Villa while he was there and would of been a better choice than Kolo last season imo
 
Captain for England in maybe his final game as well for England. With the players of Wilshire , Parker , Gerrard , Lampard and even Huddlestone and Milner his days as a England regular are coming to an end in my view. A great story to tell his grand kids that he captain the England team.
 
Think he'd be a decent captain, usually the coolest player on the pitch. The only time I remember him going mad was after that ridiculous penalty decision was given against him at Fulham last season.
 
Not the first time he's captained England, may be a last hurrah for him as Capello is making about 11 changes and after seeing Wilshere + Parker in the middle and with young players coming through, he's not likely to be selected easily from now on.

I dunno mate, possibly. Still won't make me think he's any more captain material though. Hardly inspirational is he? Quiet as a mouse and doesn't particularly lead by example.
 
Oops! This would not seat well with the "Barry is shaite" crew. I guess following their wobbly logic, we should now make Barry captain at City too :)

Funny how dumb arguments come back to bite :P
