Battle Of Orgreave

So we have two titanic tits - Thatcher and Scargill- locking into egotisticle battle. The victims of this are the police (politicised and final death knell in public policing) and the miners (and eventually their communities).
The only winner was Thatchers' ego but ultimately no winners. My Uncle was in police at time and was badly affected by his time taking on the miners. He tells stories of police brutality, gleeful intimidation of members of the public and power going to individuals heads. Yes the money was good but the price was high. He felt it was out of control and as it rolled on got fuelled on both sides by scores to settle and grudges. It was the end for him of policing by public consent and tainted what followed (Hilsborough included).
The issue about wether thatcher was right to take on the miners is one thing. The way she chose to do it is the other. Two separate issues brought together.
Like Hilsborough, there are decent coppers out there who want an opportunity to tell their story and the impact it had on their work.

The coal plant that keeps that witch burning.
