Bayern away - ticket allocation

Take a wild guess.......
There seem to be an awful lot of Blues (myself included), who have booked flights and hotels for Munich already. However, I am advised by someone at the club that match tickets may be in relatively short supply and a ballot may be used to satisfy demand. I checked the UEFA website and it would seem that Bayern (and any other European club come to that) only have to give visiting supporters 5% of the capacity. The Allianz Arena holds 69900, so that's just 3445 tickets for City. Disappointment is therefore likely to ensue for a number of people, and if they use a ballot rather than loyalty points then that disappointment is liable to turn to anger. On the plus side though, the Oktoberfest is on when we're there.......

Here's the UEFA regs:

14.08 All clubs in the UEFA club competitions must make at least 5% of the total capacity of their stadium available exclusively to visiting supporters, in a
segregated, safe area. In addition, visiting clubs are entitled to purchase up
to 200 top-category tickets (unless otherwise agreed between the two clubs
in question) for their VIP supporters, sponsors, etc. (see Articles 16 and 23 of
the UEFA Stadium Infrastructure Regulations and Article 19 of the UEFA
Safety and Security Regulations).

PS - if anyone knows different about how tickets will be allocated, please feel free to put my mind at rest, as I'm currently sweating on being £300 out of pocket

Two bans, 3 warnings and 20 pages if a ballot happens.

Can we not wait until the criteria is announced before we have the argument though as I don't think it will, especially given the terms of the CL cup scheme which states priority for European aways.

We have never done a ballot, and there's no evidence that we are about to now

According to another thread on this utd got 3000 tickets.

Bearing in mind there are not too many options to get there I think most if not all who want one will get one.

We struggled to sell 3000 tickets to anfield last year 40 miles away and money and TV was blamed for that one. Surely this is more expensive so my guess is tickets will go to open sale

Absolutely. A ballot would be the exact opposite of what the club are trying to acheive by introducing money for loyalty points.

There is no way a ballot can generate the same monetary income that "loyalty points" and the desire to amass then can.

I call bullshit.

Don't worry about a thing.............!!
Despite the initial panic, everyone who wants one will get a ticket.
They always do.

I hope you're right on this, and to be honest that was meant to be the main emphasis of the thread rather than the ballot angle. I went to Schalke and there was a pretty good turn out. Everything about this game - our first in the Chimps League, against the most glamourous team in our group, in a buzzing and accessible Western European city with an 'effing beer festival on at the same time for good measure - plus the number of people I know that have booked flights, makes me suspect we may be well oversubscribed for this game.

If there is a ballott, I shall eat my hat. It won't happen:
