Bayern Munich vs. City Post-Match Discussion Thread

Lots of positives from that game. Jesus, Pellegrini has got a right job on
his hands picking the best eleven from this talented squad. On the basis
of these friendlies, I'd start this team against Newcastle.

Hart

Richards Kompany Lescott Clichy

Fernandinho Y. Toure

Navas Nasri Jovetic

Dzeko

The pressing by our team especially in the second half was great.
Nasri worked hard and was impressive.
Milner worked hard and was impressive.
Fernandinho, Navas, Negredo, Boyata, Kompany (really impressive) were all very good.
I am very, very excited about this season.

Can someone please fill me in on what is going on with Aguero?

Lets be honest. Though we had a number of chances, they bossed us around in midfield. No shame anyway playing the European champions in their home.

Silva instead of Nasri.

I didn't see the game, how did we do?

Ref cheated the f*ck out of us from winning... played really good near the end of 1st half and in 2nd half...

Negredo scored for us... we had a lot of great chances and we pushed champs on Europe to the edge!

All in all pleased, with 2.5 weeks before season starts we are going to scare the living hell and pretty much smash a lot of big teams in the coming comps.
did Boyata do well? was wondering if he may yet have some use seeing as CB is where we still need guys (I would still like to see Pepe brought in regardless though).

Thought Boyata had an atrocious first 5 minutes, with a couple of really bad giveaways in dangerous positions that just can't happen out of a player in that position, but he settled down a bit and was OK, even good at times. Wasn't the calm and composed always in control kind of good that VK or even Nastasic provides, more of a frenetic maximum effort living by the seat of his pants kind of good that I never find convincing but some players can just play that way.

You know who I was impressed with most?

Samir Nasri..looked a different player..dangerous every time he got the ball

Nasri had a good game and worked hard throughout. Still think he is capable of so much more: technically, he is absolutely top drawer. Hopefully Pellegrini will bring the best out of him.

Probably best we lost. We don't want players thinking this is easy

Pellegrini will be so pleased with that

There's a lot to work on though. We need to retain the ball, and be more clinical in front of goal. I'm sure that will come

Aye. Some of his crosses were absolutely spot on. Probably should've scored but any other day i suppose and it would've gone in.

Nevermind Aguero, we would have fucked Bayern in both holes with David Silva.

Guaranteed.

Some positives to be taken from that but German ref and German opponents in Germany didn't help. Some pundits are demonstrating their lack of understanding regarding the handball law and they certainly couldn't see sitting back and absorbing pressure as a valid tactic even though most of the Scouse clowns have watched (or played) it for years.
It might be Bayern's 12th pre-season game and only our sixth but not sure how relevant that is as it appears we're settling for seven games anyway.
And we can't complain because Bayern are the champions of Europe. - Don't mention that 12 months ago we beat the then champions of Europe in the Charity Shield.

Should have won in the end. Made the more/better clear chances. Neggy could/should have had a hat trick.

2nd half was better, more even, with Navas and Yaya. Barry isn't cut out for games like these. With Silva on we would have caused even more problems. Quietly confident about the CL this year

Hopefully we get in a CB to partner Vinnie the King.

Other than that, the ref was shite. The german announcer is cringeworthy. Bundesliga atmosphere gets praised a lot but it seems just fake and regimented to me .

Well done Cedric Boyata :)
Played against one of the best teams in the world and did not look out of place one single bit (except for right at the start, which is understandable).

Great first start, and good on Pellegrini for giving him a valuable experience.

I think on the first-half performance,we have seen how we will play in the CL in two months time.Five at the back, four mid-field.Trying not to lose the game in the first half.Once we had the confidence to go forward it was an eye-opener.The four new signings all showed their class, now its just a matter of gelling, and getting match fit.Well pleased.CL winners,on their own midden and a ref picked from their "B"team.

Yea but Bayern won the CL in a much more impressive way than Chelsea. Bayern is clearly superior to the Chelsea of last season.

The only reason they bossed the midfield was they outnumbered because they didn't play a recognized forward and we had 2 on the pitch. Second half when Mr P balanced it up we were all over them.

Were not that far behind them, this squad will build something special. All we lack is another quality CM and a CB. On another day we would've taken our chances and won, happy so far with the progress. Refs now have screwed us twice against them.
