I get the logic but I honestly don't think United will do it. Demichelis and Van Buyten will have a field day marking Berbatov who plays to their strengths(ie. not as good in the air as them, little movement and no pace), the only threat will be down the flanks, I think Lahm will deal with most of what the left winger will deal them and the other wing will be the key, but with Van Bommel marshalling the edge of the Bayern penalty area it's going to take a lot for United to score.
Plus with Ribery and Robben Bayern will create chances, Olic if he plays will work his socks off, Gomez has a good finishing record and is tall so is dangerous, with United so average Bayern are quite a good side, it will be difficult. Now having seen Fiorentina walk all over Bayern's defence in the previous round, there are chinks, but you need skillful, pacey players for that, and I think Gilardino is better than Berbatov on current form and United don't have the creator in a Montolivo.
United are in for a tough game as long as Bayern don't bottle it.
