Just started now. Looks like it could be about something we've got.

We have the BRACA gene, which basically means any women in our family are likely to get breast cancer, and the blokes prostate cancer. My two sisters have it, I have it, but my brother doesn't.

Fascinating science, and I still send blood off to them for further study.

It's good knowing, as I'm probably going to get tested for prostate cancer sooner, and I know the signs. The genetic doctors also gave me the food for thought..."and you can decide whether or not you want to have kids or not" gulp!

But just look a the leaps they've made here. They're already spotting faults in genes to warn you might be liable to get a certain type of cancer. Progress is being made.

On a serious note, my nan died from it, and my uncle who has been doing research on it all his life, now has bone marrow cancer. I had a large tumour (sp) myself when I was young, luckily it was benign.

They said by the time I come to having kids, they might have developed it further so they can screen embryo's to ensure they don't have the BRCA 1 gene in them. Very fancy stuff.

As I say, I'm glad I know. First thing I did was go on Google, looked up "prostate cancer prevention" and found this:
