BBC licence fee

There's nothing more patronising than BBC presenters/employees (on several £100k PA even over £1m in some instances) tweeting "remember the BBC does this for 43p a day".. and posts a screenshot of uke warm list of services...

Netflix (which gazumps points being made by members of the BBC gravy train) costs lot less and has offered some superb dramas and documentaries over the years.

Netflix isn’t really a comparable, there’s a vast difference in the scale of content. Just take the BBC’s educational output when we went into lockdown as an example.

Make it a subscription service. If you still want it, pay for it. Bump the price up to £250 a year for those who want to pay for it to cover any losses. Licence fee gets abolished, people (who want it) still get to watch their BBC, their employees still get their wages.

That's purely subjective.

It is a matter of opinion that BBC is "better" than other entertainment/educational outputs. That's not enough to justify a forced payment for a service many don't even use but must have to watch live TV on other formats.

Yes but that covers other channels not the BBC and even if you use online TV services like ITV hub, Sky Go etc. I suggest you watch some videos online of people who have TV's but don't watch TV live. They send none stop threatening letters and send the bully men around to "inspect" your house to make sure you can't watch live TV. They rely on bully boy tactics and harassment so you end up paying as it's easier than the harassment.

They can fuck off and my generation and generations younger find it a completely archaic concept and the sooner it is scrapped the better.
Hysteria.
You can watch all catch up channels except BBC iPlayer without a tv licence.
No one can enter your property without a warrant and a copper in attendance.
You can have your tv connected to an aerial and they can do nothing about it. Being able to watch live tv is not an offence, only actually watching it.

Selfish beyond belief. Put it out of reach of the poor to satisfy your political views.

You think you owe yourself to the money i've worked hard for to attain?

It's a TV channel, not healthcare, wind your neck in. Remember it's only 43p per day!

Cut some of the overinflated wages from some of their big names and use the savings to knock a few quid off the license fee and I’m sure most would still be happy to fork out for it.

at what rate of tax? would those below £12500 earning pa be exempt? Would it be a graduated tax so that say someone earning £120k pa would be taxed more than someone paying £20k pa?
Do what the French do.
It’s added to council tax if you have a tv receiver.

thanks for that, sorry i realise i could have just googled it myself

i think my breadth of content on BBC (web, kids, TV, iplayer, radio) is better value myself.

furthermore - if you dont watch BBC live and dont use iplayer, why do you pay the license fee? do you need it to watch Sky live?
Yes you do.
