BBC licence fee

You dont have to pay if you dont watch it. You can opt out perfectly easily. The arugment I hear is everyone else should stop watching it because of its lefty/righty/whatever politics. Not arsed, it delivers so much good content for more than half the price.

You have to pay for it to watch live or even record any channels. Even if you want to avoid the right wing upper class BBC channels and the hippos swimming in a circle which cost millions.

If you’re happy with it crack on and ignore the noise.
It won’t be scrapped anytime soon so nothings really going to change.
Just enjoy it for what you get out of it, mate.
I know it wont be scrapped I suppose. I saw the fury at the World Service being cut. Just annoys me that people who dont like it dont want anyone else to watch it.

Wrong.
Stop posting bollocks.
The law is clear.
It is not up to you to prove you are not watching live tv.
TV licensing cannot enter property without a warrant and a police officer in attendance and even then unless someone’s stupid enough to be actually watching live tv without a licence when they call no offence is committed owning a tv without a licence.
Christ, thank god we have the right to refuse debt collectors access eh? The problem I have is why do these laws exist other than to facilitate the continuation of a bloated and overpaid state television producer?

Forget the BBC, I don't know anyone my age who even watches live TV because it's so shite yet for some reason we all have to pay more for it than anything else. The first thing I do after work is fire up Netflix or Youtube, I never think oh I wonder what's on BBC 1 because I can guarantee it'll be another shite quiz show or Antiques Roadshow.

In any event what is the problem in modernising it to better fit usage? Why is it such a big issue?

The biggest thing for me is value and for example look at Amazon Prime. I have access to tons of films, TV shows, city are on there live sometimes and I can even get my parcels delivered for free. The total cost of Amazon Prime is £95, the TV licence is £160, it's just no contest at all really.

The simple fact is the license fee and the laws around it have to exist because otherwise if the BBC was a business then it would be outcompeted and bankrupt. That's why the folk on here want it to stay, they can't bare the thought of the BBC being bashed out by something involving a free choice giving competition and let's face it, something better.

Partitioning people into groups isn’t healthy like that. I know Daily Mail readers who vote Labour and voted remain. I also just learned about this “woke” term and I don’t know anyone who thinks being woke is good, seems to be students mostly.

I personally don’t want to pay the fuckers because of their Utd bias but I think the rest of the BBC is fine, then again I’m not that political and certainly not that arsed about politics parties. Their shows are pretty good too, just started the Tourist.

It knocks me sick I’m spending £120 a year + for them to wank off the Rags at every opportunity.
You’ve only just found out about this “woke” term? I’d brace myself if I were you I think the 21st century has some shocks for you

This is of course a personal viewpoint, but for me, the mere fact my daughter could watch kid's tv via the BBC with no adverts trying to her flog her tonnes of plastic shite she doesn't need was worth every penny of paying the license fee. Anyway, this BBC story is Nadine Dories doing what she does best, being a gigantic ****.

This represents pretty much what I feel, and then I remember what the rest of the BBC does, and does so well, apart from news and current affairs.

What makes me laugh is how blues on here complain about the obvious click-bait approach of the on line sports section, with reference to City in particular. What do they think would happen to that if the BBC were required to go even further down the road of self-funding?
A bit off topic but as the BBC are publicly funded why do they need to chase click-bait? There's no advertising that they are chasing for revenue.

If sports on the BBC were part funded by sponsors at least when it say "This website/ programme is sponsored by MUTV or LFCTV" their behaviour would be more understandable.

BTW I'm personally ok with the BBC being funded by a license (as per my previous post), but believe some elements could be part funded by limited advertising.

"Healthy?!?!?" What are you talking about? This is a forum, not a mother's meeting. The people marching around wanting to defund the BBC for not giving Nigel Farage a daily talk show and playing the national anthem every midnight are morons if you want my true opinion.
Who and where are these people marching?

I dont even understand that. Sky show nearly every one of our games with utd or lfc pundits. They talk shite every game, so do BT. Theyre shocking.
Yes but I’m willing to pay it to watch city and I could tell them to get fucked if I want

I’m not really into politics, I’d see it in the news but didn’t pay attention.

I know it wont be scrapped I suppose. I saw the fury at the World Service being cut. Just annoys me that people who dont like it dont want anyone else to watch it.
Nobody is saying scrap the BBC though. They want the mandatory licence fee scrapped. Make the BBC a subscription service. Where's the problem? Those that want it will obviously continue to keep paying and allow those that don't the option not to anymore.
