If shirts sales are signficant for a 2 month loan period then i'll be shocked. Surely not that many people are that stupid?

Thats why I had a question mark and not a full stop. Other than this shirt sales myth that surrounds Beckham (the club was likely to sell any shirts they sell with his name on regardless (just with a different name)), I can't understand why they would want to loan him though.

well I for one think that beckham will have a positive effect on spurs, maybe more off the pitch than on. Think they may just up their game a little. I can't see any negatives in him going there. IMO ofcourse

They've got a lot of midfielders and you could argue that anyone who loses their place to an ageing 2 month stop-gap might not be best pleased

Absolutely they are, Beckham will bring in a fortune for Spurs. The exposure and media frenzy will have every foreigner in London with a Spurs/Beckham shirt on.
