Eccles of course! Just Eccles!!
Yesterday I was on the General Register Office website (family history related). I have bought birth, marriage and death certificates from them on and off over the past 15 years no bother at all. Yesterday it said you are 'You are blocked' when I came to pay. I emailed them and thought it was just a blip.
However this morning I went to put my Lottery on, again something I do on and off, not regularly and they came back with 'We note you're IP address is not in the UK or Isle of Man.'
Plus I tried to connect to MY BT to see if there was anything on that and I can't connect to them either.

Anyone any ideas as to what I can do please? :-)

A foreign IP address typically occurs when you're browsing the internet while connected to a network in a different country. This can happen naturally when you're traveling or using public Wi-Fi abroad, or it can be caused by using a VPN to appear to be in another location. A foreign IP can also be assigned by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) if they are routing your traffic through a different network

But I'm on my home laptop? I'm now on the phone to BT in a queue, its like trying to buy a ticket but they don't tell you how many people are in front of you!! They did say about 10 minutes waiting though. We'll see how long it is.
Thank you for your assistance. :-)

Maybe try clearing your browsing history whilst you're waiting.

I'm presuming you don't have a VPN active?

Thank you @ Centurions. BT were useless he just kept saying it must be something wrong with the site I was trying to access and when I said why would two sites with no connections with each other say it he just said he didn't know.
I had come off here and when I finished speaking to BT I did turn off the router and started totally afresh. We shall see what happens now. Thank you for your help. :-)

Good advice so far from Bluemoon. If all this fails though, you might try moving to the Isle of Man, which is very nice, and has two tax bands - 10% standard, 21% higher rate.

Overzealous ISP filtering is usually the cause, it's like an arms race where legit companies and governments are trying to stem the flood of scammers by blocking nefarious IP addresses that are in blocks.

It's the stuff of conspiracy theories but in this instance it is actually true, I blame Nigerian Princes ;-)

This usually happens if you are connected through a vpn. Lots of sites won't let you connect if you are using a vpn. If I want to play the lottery I have to switch it off.

I eventually solved it by closing down completely turning off the router, turning back on again telling it to forget the BT connection then connecting it back to the BT connection.
I suddenly realised it must have been like that for a couple of days because the BBC connection was to bbc.com which doesn’t have access to iPlayer! It should have been bbc.co.uk which it wouldn’t let me access.

Extremely weird but thank you for your help BlueMooners.
