I eventually solved it by closing down completely turning off the router, turning back on again telling it to forget the BT connection then connecting it back to the BT connection.
I suddenly realised it must have been like that for a couple of days because the BBC connection was to bbc.com which doesn’t have access to iPlayer! It should have been bb.co.uk which it wouldn’t let me access.
