Bell, Lee and Summerbee statue | Unveiled (pg19)

nd what aboutI think it's right we acknowledge the great players of times gone by and Bell, Lee and Summerbee are widely considered as our three but I always feel this is more a case of providing a rival symmetry to Best, Law and Charlton. Surely Book deserves something. Captained us to all of that success as a player and further success as a manager. Hard to know where to draw the line on these things really!

We've had a hell of a lot of good players. You've got Kompany, Silva and Aguero honoured with statues. De Bruyne will need to be recognised. Pep will too. Then you've got Gundo who captained us to the treble! Going to need to name some stands in the future I think!

I'm not sure the North Stand being called the Book End will get many votes though!

Can they add Mercer and Alison to it, please.
And you can add one of the great City warriors to that list,Blue through and through M.I.M.I.C.M.I.C.K.MICK DOYLE.

I agree it’s hard to know where to draw the line. However I’d say United don’t have ownership over statues and what they’ve done is irrelevant. We’re talking about 3 of arguably our best ever players, who’s names have past down generations.

A statue of all 3 of them is the most fitting tribute in my opinion. I think they are more deserving than most.

I’d name the north stand the Summerbee stand as well.

They don't have ownership over statues but there's definitely something to the fact we had Bell, Lee and Summerbee and they had Best, Law and Charlton. There's a symmetry to it. A nice rivalry of 6 great players going toe to toe to make their team the best in the city. There were a lot of great players outside of them, including Book who lead the team and also managed us to success - that's all I'm saying - more a question really! I'm sure the press at the time were enjoying having three attacking players from each team going against each other.

As i understand it the following players are currently recognised;
Vinnie, serg, dave: statues
Joe mercer (way)
The colin bell stand
Bert trautmann (bust in main entrance)

Id like a statue of bell, lee summerbee and id name a stand after pep and KDB when they move on.

The bert trautman statue should be outside the ground in my opinion. Its hidden away and no one sees it

I wouldn’t name a stand after KDB to be honest. It’s hard to argue though. I just think someone like Summerbee is more deserving dedicating most of his adult life to the club and being one of our most successful players

At a minimum to have a stand named after you, you have to be special and have your name passed down through generation in my opinion

Yeah probs agree but KDB will go down as the very best for me so some recognition 100%

“Skip” deserves one, as does Trautmann imo too.

I’ve never been a fan of statues for this reason. You have to draw the line and it’s always a very harsh line on those who miss out.
Bert Trautmann should have the most prominent one. Yet it’s hidden away and only little.
