Yeah....look at them......bloody scum......disgusting, ruined this country and on a possitive note. While the nation is incandescent with rage looking at some poor fuckers who have been let down by sociaty who have been pushed to the edge of society due to a lack of mass employment for the working classes, priced out of owning a home, let down by a diversive education system and let off the leach like a feral animal.....society won't be looking at the real criminals. This government are nothing but illusionists, catching you attention while the real business goes on away from the glare of the small amount of voters that can actually make a change.

This sums it up precisely.

So basically they're all blameless and can do whatever they want because some other people are rich?

Nobody has said they are blameless.
More Shameless, really.
But what some of us are suggesting is that a disproportionate amount of effort and blame is allocated to condemning some scally fiddling his dole whilst the real culprits in the city get away with fiscal murder.
Which is just the way the Tories like it.
And these are the rich fiddling to get richer, not the poor trying to get by.
Set the struggling against the desperately poor, and you deflect the attention away from the multinationals.

Spot on. People look at society being unfair, and blame it on the "scroungers"
at the bottom.
When it's the greedy at the top that are the vast majority of the problem.

A great post.

"there's no money here...
Then why are you here"

I tried to watch this last night. I dont think the Romanian lot came across bad at all. They were here to make a living and fair play to them. I still could only watch 10 minutes though as im getting seriously bored of watching poor people be poor. Thats not to say im heartless and dont sympathise with the plight it just gets annoying. Other than the fact I have been poor so im acutely aware of what it is like at the bottom

What is the reason for the programme?
Is it to sympathise or is it more shit stirring so we blame the poor for the state of the country?

Listen. Knowbody is suggesting the people on that show are salt if the earth. I would maybe suggest they didn't get the breaks other folk did ie sensible parents, a nice pot of cash to get started on from mummy and daddy. I bet their parents didn't give them money towards their first mortgage etc. But tbh its neither here or there. The fact is oiks have been around in our society. It's just worrying they are being highlighted and used as poster boys for "benifits britain" at a time when MANY good, hard working people are having social security to get by because many VERY rich people ripped our nation off, people who DON'T get sensationalist documentarys made about. WHEN THEY BLOODY WELL SHOULD!

"Conservative minister Iain Duncan Smith has told people in the south Wales town of Merthyr Tydfil they have become static and should seek work in Cardiff.

The work and pensions secretary suggested unemployed people "get on a bus" to find work.

The former Tory leader claimed people were unaware they could take a one-hour bus journey to Cardiff for work.

Labour politicians and unions said it echoed 1980s Tory minister Lord Tebbit's "get on your bike" comments.

The Public and Commercial Services Union said his remarks amounted to a "disgusting insult" to the unemployed.

Huw Lewis, Labour AM for Merthyr, said: "The parallels with the equally disgraceful 'on yer bike' comments from Norman Tebbit in the 1980s are there for all to see.

"That generation of Conservatives thought unemployment was the fault of the unemployed and with every action and utterance from this Government, it is clear that they are the true inheritors of that tradition."

I've not heard anyone blame people on benefits for the economic situation and the concern/dislike/disgust regarding this underclass existed long before the financial crash. The support for cutting back spending on benefits stems from the knowledge that for a sizeable amount of people, the welfare system allows people to choose not to work which directly leads to social problems eg like those shown in this programme.

You only look at the cost of welfare as a percentage and dismiss it as insignificant whilst totally ignoring the social, health and criminality costs and the misery and disruption that they cause to others. Yes society is partially to blame because it has not addressed these problems properly, instead focussing on providing them with excuses and more money whilst preying that they don't cause us too many problems.

Didn't watch it and won't. Fact is, anyone can end up on the dole. I had a stable job, 25k a year etc, but there's people who take advantage. Some need it, some don't. I abhor going to sign on.
