Big difference between the first- and second-half performance was that he was driving forward with purpose. Rather than holding the line or playing in the space between the box and the touch line, Sterling was taking men into the box and freeing up more space. Mendy certainly needs to improve his crossing consistency, and forwards need to gamble on the near post more, but the signs yesterday were encouraging.

A good cross for the goal but the 10 before that went nowhere

When he first came in and made Leroy redundant he was playing first time balls in all the time. Now he usually stops and looks up, gives his marker time to cover, gives the defence time to set up and normally hits the ball against his marker or passes it square or back. The cross for Aguero was a now rare first time ball in.
Angelino also has a great first time ball, by the way, but when he's low on confidence eg the rags at home, he won't cross and plays it back all the time.
I'm sure a fit Leroy would walk straight into the team right now, for one game anyway before Pep left him out to rest him, or for tactical reasons or whatever drives him to continually change a winning side!

A good cross for the goal but the 100 before that went nowhere

Apart from his cross for our second goal his crossing was fucking abysmal yesterday. Over-hit, under-hit, miss-hit, blocked and sometimes even ignored by all attackers and defenders they were that bad.

He finally got one right!

However, his overall effort and athleticism seems to be getting much better and he is a danger, even if the danger comes in about a 1:100 ratio.

I thought he was really good on Saturday. His crossing as intelligent as was his positioning. He's getting much fitter, confident and its evident how much he trusts his body.

Especially for us, the crosses need to be pin point, we can't just throw it in the mixer for a big centre forward to get on the end of.

He whipped in 2 crosses in first 4 minutes, one a beautiful cross that Sterling just couldn't put his head on. Looked like he could have tried a bit harder to connect from where I was though.
