When questioned this morning on the pedigree of the Warriors (Zimbabwe), who they face tonight in a World Cup preparation friendly, young Robbie drew a blank, confessing he hadn’t a scooby doo about the opposing team or their players.

When eventually asked whether the name “Benjani” (his ex team mate at Man City) inspired anything in him, he had a sudden change of tune.

He had a quick think and a shuffle, and haplessly replied – “He’s a great player, a good striker, with strong qualities for English football.”
