May well be another ‘senior moment’ but am I correct that he did several brilliant “Jackanory” stories on the BBC back in the day?
What an innovative series that was. I loved it. Neither of my parents ever read stories to me - the norm in the 1960s - and I was hooked on it immediately.
Hope I’m right and Bernard Cribbens, rather than Bernard Manning did “Jackanory”. Can you imagine Bernard Manning doing this show??

I've just been looking at the list - I had a memory of him reading the Hobbit, which is pleasingly right, and also Mortimer and Arabel.
