This past transfer window we've sadly seen the breakup of that fantastic Leverkusen side from 2 years ago. They will fall back into nothingness. Was they the best 1 season (1.5 season) team we've seen in recent years?

Leicester City 2015-2016:
Notable players - Vardy, Maherez, Kante, Drinkwater, Schmeichel
AS Monaco 2016-2017:
Notable players - Mbappe, B.Silva, Fabinho, Mendy, Falcao, Moutinho
Bayer Levekusen 2023-2024:
Notable players - Wirtz, Boniface, Frimpong, Grimaldo, Xhaka, Tah

Was tempted to put Napoli 2022-2023 in here but they've won the league again and are permanently a good team in recent years.

Whilst it was shit for us, I suppose Wigan should get a mention if cup competitions are included?

Ten Haag's Ajax in 2018/19.

Should have made the CL final, but they bottled a 3-0 lead with 35 minutes to go, AT HOME! TO SPURS!

What's amazing is Andre Onana was the GK in that team, and to think he could have played in 2 CL finals is bewildering.

Not sure where you get "season" from; they were relegated the following midweek. We contributed to our downfall that day, with the shitshow surrounding Mancini's impending departure. On the pitch, and in the stands, that was a truly dreadful day.

Yeah was just saying that nobody would have had Wigan winning the FA Cup that season, but they did - hence one season wonder. The op wasn’t specifying whether it was league titles or whatever.

Montpellier 2011/12; Won the title in France for the first time ever, team included Giroud.
Hellas Verona 1984/85; Their one and only Scudetto.
Lille 2020/21; Ligue 1 winners, finished above a PSG team that had reached the CL final the previous year.
Calais Racing Union FC 2000; Reached the final of the Coupe de France, an amateur team reaching a major cup final, remarkable story. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52553649

Currently, Mjallby in the Swedish top flight, a team from a small fishing village are currently 4 points clear at the top, beat Malmo 3-1 away at the weekend, pretty amazing story.

Not a club season, but Greece winning Euro 2004.

That Calais story is amazing. Good spot.
