Take a guess, go on, a wild guess
Without doubt the acoustic guitar is the perfect instrument. You presumably agree or you wouldn't be here, or at least are willing to learn.

So what are the best acoustic guitar songs?

This is not a competition- no marks will be awarded. The only rules are the songs you post must be, in your opinion, great examples of acoustic guitar songs. They can have other instruments in there too but the guitar must be the main one.

I'm going to kick this off with a high bar- Nick Drake, Three Hours.
Musically one of my absolute icons. His life story was so tragic that overall I can't call him totally inspirational, but musically he was almost untouchable. It's just such a shame his inner demons proved stronger than he was at the crucial time or who knows what he may have achieved

Not being a nob - I have genuinely never knowingly listened to him (stone him!!!!!!!!!!).

That was really enjoyable on first listen.

You are probably correct on the acoustic guitar - I always pick it up in place of my electrics and I do believe it to a soulfully perfect instrument (fuck it - stone him again!!!!!!!!).

You don't need to be a whizz to make it sing.

Can't help thinking this is going to turn into a 'Best of' of Neil Young for me mind............ ;-)

I could be here all day with this thread:-) If it takes off I'm gonna post songs I can play which shows you don't have to be a great guitar player to play along with some cool sounding songs.

To start

Two for two here - not sure I've come across that before - really enjoyed it..........

An obvious one but tremendous none the less

I shit you not - this song came on in the car at the point I was turning into the crematorium in Warrington (off that fucking long straight road that never ends).

I was collecting my old man's ashes* during COVID having not actually had a funeral for him (people restrictions etc and not religious so just sent him straight off to be toasted).

Needless to say this song has taken on an even greater meaning............

* Only a small bloke (I had him at about 5f 6inch - he would swear he was more 5f 8inch), couldn't believe the fucking weight of his ashes tube :-)
