Best City pub in/near town nowadays?

Evening,

Lapsed Bluemooner.

I'm looking for a good City pub either in town or within walking distance of town. I've not watched the Blues in a boozer in years, tend to go to the games or watch at home, but got a couple of pals visiting Manchester for the next couple of weeks so after somewhere to watch the Brugge, Brighton and West Ham games.

Thinking more a proper locals-type City pub rather than a new bar that's just showing the game, if that makes sense (i.e no rags and not full of students).

Somewhere which does decent keg and cask ale would be ideal.

Ape and Apple is decent and always full of City when we play
 
Tib St Taverns not bad for watching a game in and has some good ales.
Maybe Port St Beerhouse for more ales after the match.
