Best foreign films ever...

We've got a best British film thread but is their any world cinema fans out there?

Some of my faves are:

Cinema Paradiso
The Lives of Others
City of Life and Death
 
I quite enjoyed the 1970 murder mystery.... 'And soon the Darkness'

wasn't technically a French film , more british produced and directed , but you'd never know it .... it was filmed almost entirely on location in rural France , and featured the lovely Michelle Dotrice , of 'Some mothers do ave em' fame.

Probably not the greatest film you'll ever see , but the french scenery/villages make it interesting , as do the mix of the few characters involved ..... and the movie has remained in my mind for years.

Apparently there was a 2010 remake of the film.
