Was never a massive fan but saw them at the Apollo late seventies, they were threatened with arrest if they had a stripper strip to nice& sleezy they surely did & James Anderton sent in the heavies when they’d finished.It will always be my next Stranglers gig.
Saw the Stranglers as part of a CSE show at RAF Akrotiri once...absolutely superb and even jammed as an encore with some lads from GEF who had formed a band ... it was certainly a gig to remember..Always wanted to get to one, great band

Was at the nec gig 88 brilliant !Never thought Queen in 1974 and 75, Lynyrd Skynyrd 75 and 76, Thin Lizzy 77 etc could be beaten. But Prince NEC on his Lovesexy Tour 88 topped the lot.
Following that many came close, but it was eventually topped .... in 2014, by Prince again, this time at Manchester Academy.

Looks like the Buzzcocks at Rock Against Racism, Alexandra Park. I was there and had a great time but hard to judge against a lot of gigs at the time .

Just to jog your memories, that was my first gig and the other support band was Subway sect. Howard Devoto was there in the crowd but not lost.
Penetration played 2 or 3 weeks later with the Banshees and Buzzcocks.

Yeah I remember seeing the Slits at The Mayflower Patrick Fitzgerald I'm a bit vague on but I am sure I saw him once so may have been that one not sure.topper

Concur with that - he'd done Hammersmith in 75 and not gone down too well (as he perceived it), came back in 81 touring The River and conquered the world. I was at the NEC and Townsend came on for the encore(s), which was odd as The Who famously don't encore. Sprinsteen does about 10 (or did in those days)Sorry to be a git but pretty sure Springsteen didn't play NEC until 1981. He'd only played London in 1975 until he toured UK in 81.
