Im hoping someone can help me here as i was only a young boy when trevor francis scored a stunner,
I was with my old fella whos passed away, so i cant ask to confirm.
I think it might have been his debut, 1982 v wolves? Hit a beauty from way out that went over the keeper.
Not 100% though...

It wasn't Trev's debut, that was at Stoke at the start of the season. The Wolves goal was at Xmas 1981 a few days after we won at Anfield on Boxing Day. We went top of the league after the Wolves win, I remember all this because I was ill in bed over Xmas, missed both games and never saw Trev's goal as it wasn't televised.

On topic, Jim Melrose and Cyrille Regis at Maine Rd have already been mentioned and would be up there in my top 10. Throw in these others too:-

Dennis Tueart's overhead kick in the 1976 League Cup Final
Steve Mackenzie's volley in the 1981 FA Cup Final replay
David Silva's goal at Hull last season
Yaya's goal in the League Cup Final last season
Kinky's solo goals against Southampton and Leicester
Aguero's finish from an "impossible" angle against Liverpool a couple of years ago.

I remember one where Trevor was running & it came over his shoulder & he just smacked it in from distance ? That's one of the best ever for me but I can't remember who it was against.

There was also one goal which never gets a mention in a low profile game v one of the Bristols. We had just scored & they gave the ball away from the restart. Peter Barnes picked it up, beat everybody who came near him, & scored. Even better than the Kinkladze one imo.

Best goal ever though, Rodney Marsh overhead kick vs QPR. On the chest, on the knee, flicked up above head height, smacked in. Late in the game, 1-0 winner.

That's a great shout, I should have remembered that one, it was against Bristol City, late 70s.

Some crackers in here!!!!

Tevez scored so many belters it's hard to pick.

Tevez scored so many belters it’s hard to pick one.

Elano Free kick vs Newcastle.

Michael Johnson goal vs Derby Country was special.

Sergio's against Liverpool in the 2-2.

Admittedly not just for the skill involved but being lucky enough to be pitch level directly in line with the shot the second it left his boot to landing in the bottom corner

YaYa v Sunderland CC final
YaYa v Plzen away
Bellamy V United 4-3 was a cracker
Tevez free kick v Stoke

Oh yes, City fans sucked that one in from behind the goal

Mine was Eyal Berkovic think was against Norwich . Ran full length of pitch slaloming between defenders and just before he ran out of steam, knocked it in the net . Quality

Roger Palmer volley against Wolves in a 3-1 win mid 70's. First City game I ever went to, my dad took me and I still remember it clear as day now. He was outside the area and hit it beautifully, (Roger, not my dad!)

I had a vision of this happening as the corner was about to be taken. I was about to shout "WATCH THE RUNNER!" but as I was 16 at the time I feared the back lash so said nothing and watched Lomas run and bury the ball into the back of the City net. As a result I no longer refrain from shouting at a football match.

Manchester City 1-2 West Ham United
FA Cup fourth round
Sunday 25 January 1998

Harry Redknapp's West Ham avoided a potential cup upset at Maine Road, against a Manchester City side then battling against relegation to the third tier.

Though Eyal Berkovic put the Hammers in front, Georgi Kinkladze's brilliant individual effort put the skids under the visitors.

The Georgian midfielder slalomed through West Ham's rearguard, before beating Craig Forrest, via the inside of the far post. It might have got a whole lot worse, but Uwe Rosler skied his spot-kick over the bar, after Steve Potts had been penalised.

With the tie in the balance, it swung decisively in the Hammers' favour with quarter-of-an-hour to play, when former City employee Steve Lomas fired hard and low through a crowded penalty area to send West Ham into the last 16.

Super Frank Lampard. I've printed this page as proof and I expect my cheque in the post or I'll see you in court. ;-)

Loads - but best headed goal that sticks out was Dave Watsons header v Ipswich - circa 76/77

Mick McCarthy v the rags was a great header

Hinchcliffes was also great

Robinho v Arsenal was good, the chip

The best though for me was Kinky v Southampton
