It seems that all of the sudden, the past two years.. there's been a massive influx of good English strikers. Probably the best talent pool of them since Shearer, Cole, Owen, Fowler, Heskey, Phillips, Smith and Sherringham.

We have.. Kane, Watkins, Toney, Bamford, Rashford, Greenwood, Antonio, Vardy, Calvert-Lewin, Abraham, Ings, Wilson, Armstrong and probably countless others I'm foregetting.

None of them are anywhere near as good as Shearer, Cole, Owen, Fowler or Sheringham.
I know you are saying the best since, but I don't think the current lot are anything special.

People include Rashford in these best striker lists but the man has 88 goals in 271 games or 55 in 179 prem games.

Some people on here call Jesus a shit striker who has 85 in 202 games or 52 in 137 prem games.

Just saying.

way to hijack the thread narrative

It’s a deep but not a strong list.

Only Kane is truly top drawer. The rest are just decent.

The likes of Rickie Lambert, Danny Welbeck and Daniel Sturridge were, at one point, that sort of level.

Greenwood (and Delap) have the potential to be stars but both are a long way away right now.

Sorry for commenting.

Most on your list are bang average and I dare say none of them are good enough for City.

You say over the last two years, Vardy is nearly 35 and has not played for England since 2018 or put another way scored 2 international goals since 2015.

Antonio is a Jamaican International btw.

Is that better?

The striking position has changed a lot recently. It’s probably why there are very few in the world class category now.

Our current list is not a particularly strong one.

Good intentions, but that list is no where near in quality to the players prior.
