Graduating soon and with any luck I'll hopefully have a job tied up in Media City. Going to go home for a couple of months to save some money up however I then intend on moving out. Ideally I'd like somewhere to close to town which isn't rough. Any suggestions on where to look? Cheers.

Near town, especially media city = rough imo.

I'd head out on the tram line and see what you can find. Heston Mersey tram stop is on the didsbury / burnage boarder. That might be an idea.

Monton. It's got about 5 or 6 decent bars and pubs. Canals and parks close by. You can walk to Eccles tram stop in about 20 mins and then the tram takes 8mins to get to media city.

Rents are still fairly reasonable as well.

Has the Canal nudger discovered Monton yet?

The Didsbury metro line doesn't go to Media City, you have to change at Cornbrook. In which case consider chorlton as well, its metro link line gives to Cornbrook too.
Didsbury rents are eye watering.

Somewhere with a convenient commute to work is the right idea. I must admit I dislike a few areas of South Manchester with Chorlton and Didsbury in particular. They've been gentrified and changed beyond recognition. Victoria Park was a nice gem hidden between Longsight and Rusholme. I didn't go hungry.

Been away a while then?

Lots of new developments near weaste mate. I am looking myself so have had a good look around.
Didsbury is okish but you will get robbed, it is a terrible area for burglaries afaik.

Northern and green quarter are decent. Deansgate has a few reasonable prices but you need to keep your eye out.

Tydlsley seems the best best for accommodation quality and distance to town etc.

Hear is one near media city, just been let but it gives you an idea.
