Back in the 70s I lived on the south coast and we had drawn Brighton in fa cup. Couldn't get ticket so decided to visit my mum back in manc that weekend. Drove 5 hrs back north on fri evening. Met up with some mates fri who had a spare ticket, as I had the only car drove back down south sat morn to Brighton where we got spanked 4-0. Got pissed wet through and had another 5 hr drive back. On sunday had to drive back down south home. Shit weekend.

Easy - best vs Stoke in May 2011 as we won the bloody Cup and it's the only time I've ever seen us do that.

Worst - Wigan May 2013 as a team fielding Tevez, Aguero, Toure, Silva and Nasri as a front 5 couldn't muster a shot at goal.

Guardian report if Halifax said we stood on terraces caked in mud. As I recall it was just a bank of earth. Worst defeat but Spurs at home and the pitch invasion was worse experience; my mate never attended again.

Best - probably Everton semi final in 69 if only for tommy booth's late winner, but United semi (we just talked yesterday about balotelli's wink), Vienna in the rain, or I remember Blackpool (Monday night?) at home in the early 60s with a Mike Doyle header I then drew in art at school!)

Spot on mate it was a Monday night I was stood at the old scoreboard end,unusual for a replay just 2 days after the first game.Think the game was about 66,always remember the name Green the bloke who scored for them in the 1-1 on the Saturday,don't ask me why,50 year's ago unbelievable Just checked up it was January 1966 over 53,000 for the 3rd round replay,also in the next round Leicester home over 57,000 I was sat in the Platt Lane that afternoon,and the home game with Everton the Quarterfinals we had a full house 63,000,think the fa cup meant a lot more in those days.

I was also at the scoreboard end on that Monday night in January '66. Seem to remember we beat them 3-1 and Bally tried to pick a fight with big George Heslop.
Also went to the first tie at Bloomfield Road. Remember it was bloody freezing but the atmosphere was fantastic. It was a great result for us to get a 1-1 draw because they were a Division 1 side and we were still in Division 2. There is an old photo somewhere of the City players celebrating the draw in the dressing room afterwards! That's how important the FA Cup was in those days.
I'm sure Glyn Pardoe scored our equaliser that day but the records show Johnny Crossan.

I didn't make the Saturday game but the following season when we got back in the first division I went to Bloomfield rd and we won with a Johnny Crossen penalty.

Nowhere near the worst for me! We played quite well that day and even after they scored in the 89th minute (Gary Lund - I was working with his uncle at the time!) we still hit the woodwork!

For me it was Lincoln away 4-1 defeat, think it was league cup.
My first ever game, Southampton away in a Milk Cup replay, circa 1982, Graham Baker, ex-Saint was playing for us, we hit the post in the first 30 seconds and battered them all first half, yet went in 1-0 down. We lost 4-0 and it absolutely pissed down, at least it was only 20 minutes to home for me, felt sorry for the lads and lasses that made the trip down!

Also September 19th 1989, losing 2-1 away to Brentford in the League Cup, I went to the Portsmouth-yoonited game the next night too, rags were 3-0 up at half time (finished 2-3) and singing 'City, you are next, City, City you are next.... we all know what happened on the following Saturday (plus we beat Brentford 4-1 second leg iirc!)

Best, probably spuds away, 3-0 down, Sir Joseph of Barton sent off at half time and coming back to win 3-4....Macken!!! The semi vs the rags, how quick did they empty the stadium???!!! Sunderland League Cup Final was great too just for the sheer quality of Yaya and Samir's goals.
