Are resident OAP had a good game yesterday from what I remember. Nothing special but rarely wasted possession and always looked to pass forward. Him and barry looked a good balance midfield partnership.
Quite impressed with him yesterday, it might just give NDJ the nudge he needs to look forward for his passes more often and to get himself into the opposition half when the opportunity arises.
Unless Ireland recaptures his form, Pat is our most creative midfielder, so hopefully yesterday was just the beginng, as we need creativity in the middle of the park.
I fear for him with the mid week game against Everton. There 5 accross the midfield will cause us some problems. Arteta , Cahill and Pieanar will all cause problems for him I just cant see him having the legs to do it all. Horses for courses as they say I would expect to see Roque make way for another in the midfield I would hope for attacking player ala Ireland but more than likely it will be for De Jong.
I like the way he has allowed Barry to play a better game, it happened when he came on against Sunderland and from the start against Fulham, hate to say it, but I prefer Vierra with Barry, more than De Jong with Barry. Shame Pat's not 5 years younger.
We'll need more legs in midfield tomorrow. I'd start him on the bench tomorrow. We need to match their energy first. They'll be at their usual fouling early doors.
