Robert Hopkin, now he was a c**t.
If he was bobbins, he wouldn’t have had 250 appearances across 3 different managers for a team and club as good as ours. Nor would he have captained his country. As others have said, he left City because he wanted to play left-back not centre-back. If you didn’t rate him fair enough but let’s not rewrite history by claiming Pep didn’t when he played him 40 times the season before he left.
If he was any good he’d still be here. It’s as simple as that.
He played because we had fuck all else option. It was him or a derelict Gael Clichy for the last couple of years he was here. I’d have got in the team at that point.
Kolarov was a great crosser of the ball, had the odd worldy free kick in him and absolutely fuck all else.
Defend? I doubt he could even spell the word. Absolutely no football brain and would get nowhere near this current squad.
Captain of Serbia? That’s the equivalent of bring the captain of a Hull or a Fulham. The definition of bog standard. Doesn’t mean he was a top player by any stretch. He was chosen for that role more for his ‘fight’ than his ability.
You think Pep Guardiola, the greatest coach and football brain on the planet, wanted to play Kolarov at centre back? A man at centre back who had no defensive ability and couldn’t head a ball to save his life?
You worry me pal.
That's a decent call actually.Caballero
