bigimg piccies getting squodged

over the last few days I've noticed that when anyone posts a piccie using the bigimg tag on my two laptops where I use Google Chrome, the piccies get squodged into a 4x3 format - if I click on them then they show normal in a new browser window - its just inline in the thread they've gone wrong.

any thoughts?
