Should you still pay your council tax to someone who is effectively bankrupt and offering no services?
£760 million to pay 170 claimants, wish I'd been under paid / under valued, nice little £4.5 million back pay.
thats a good point, didnt something happen like this in Detroit, house prices fell so much they couldnt give them away as council services were if at all running, some homeless were buying bus tickets on 24 hour routes and just stayed on the bus as it went around to keep warmShould you still pay your council tax to someone who is effectively bankrupt and offering no services?
That can't be right ?£760 million to pay 170 claimants, wish I'd been under paid / under valued, nice little £4.5 million back pay.
yep....London in 2nd now...Ah well, that's the end of their tenuous grip on "second city" status.
one claimant will be dealing with many claims,a bit like no win no feeThat can't be right ?
Well it cost them 16m to move a bus depot 300m which was budgeted to cost 2m.I guess Commonwealth games didn't really achieve much, unlike Manchester ;)
And that is proof that I'm making this one political is it...........Case rested m'lord...LOLJust don’t remember you commenting on that thread, or the Thurrock one etc.
Cool beans. Not once have I defended Birmingham council, nor tried to.And that is proof that I'm making this one political is it...........Case rested m'lord...LOL
It's an anti crap management statement, and that includes the present government, Labour Councils, Conservative councils, any colour of rosette councils inbetween, NHS, Water companies etc, etc. They all have bugets, and responsibilities that they constantly fail, whilst lining their pockets.
Yes of course, just read when she was in a top job at East Anglia her successor was her husband, bent as you like. I don’t like Birmingham, nice areas like Solihull and Sutton Coldfield but it’s a bit of a dump, it’s a difficult place to commute to. However, the insufferable fans of Villa will get some payback this year. You know the type, we've won the Champions League and they’re in the Conference, going to be delicious with this news added on.Birmingham chief exec earns £230k per year , but it's not her fault apparently as she was not responsible for any of the issues
You can’t polish a turd as the saying goes. It's had issues for years, I Must admit the tipping point of equal pay all seems a tad confusing. It seems like it's in addition to the original settlement & post that settlement bonuses have been given to mainly refuse collectors that haven't to people who were entitled to the same.
It's probably linked to the bin strike a few years ago which went on for ages and made some suburbs seem like the absolute pits.
It's a shame as the city centre in town has honestly improved so so much. A lot of perceptions of Brum as a city are that it is ugly and grey but the part from Chamberlain Square to Centenary Square could rival most Uk cities now in my bias opinion.
The suburbs need improving though (I know all inner cities aren't great) but the sheer amount of fly tipping that exists within a 3-4 mile radius is absolutely disgusting. As more services get stripped back it's only going to get worse.
The areas either side of the M6 need to look better too. It’s the only view some people get of Birmingham and it looks like it did in the 1970s.It's had issues for years, I Must admit the tipping point of equal pay all seems a tad confusing. It seems like it's in addition to the original settlement & post that settlement bonuses have been given to mainly refuse collectors that haven't to people who were entitled to the same.
