Birmingham City Thread - 2023/24 | Rooney sacked after 15 games

Hughes, Bruce for 2 have had better than good careers- they've had great careers.
Both have made a career of being sacked, contract paid up then hired at another merry go round club based solely on their rag reputation.

It's a lot harder if you ask for ex utd players who have had careers as good football managers
I think Bruce was still on the Rags payroll - he was regularly on hand to seriously overpay for any Rag cast offs.

I want to understand what competent executive looks at Rooney and goes “Yeah that’s the thought leader I want running my team”?

I know that not every good manager is blessed with towering intellect… but they all at least give the impression they might have read a book once. Or that they perhaps have something resembling charisma and guile.

If you listed the qualities you’d want in a manager and rated them all out of 100, Rooney would barely get out of single digits for any of them.

I hope that the last we hear and see of the obnoxious fat potato headed little fucker ever again, but I fear that won't be the case. He'll be snapped up by one of the red top loving sport channels to give us his not so expert opinion.

You need some semblance of intelligence these days to be a top manager, Rooney, Keane, Beckham, Neville(x2) & Giggs who can’t count after their fingers run out have absolutely no chance of success

To be fair to Keane he did win the championship as a manager so he obviously was capable to a degree. Then again, it's not like things went too well for him after that. Still not close to the shocking managerial efforts of Rooney and Neville, that's for sure.

I think he's a bit smarter than the other rag lot but that's not saying much at all. He's definitely not cut out for management in 2024 though.
