blank screen 'sometimes'

when i switch the laptop off and switch back on sometimes i get a blank screen its not grey or anything its as if i havnt switched it on although i can hear it boot up and the windows tune can be heard if i then plug the hdmi into the tv i get a picture on the telly but nothing on the laptop, after a few tries it will eventually boot with screen,there seems to be no pattern to the problem like if i shut down through loss of power or re boot after updates

any ideas chaps?

gpu or wires to the screen have worn and broke over time.

If it's the gpu your screwed and may as well get looking for a new one.

thanks tc i fitted a new screen about a year ago so will check the conections
