Blood pressure

Doctors are in the main shocking at giving dietary advice they don’t get taught nutrition at med school.

Stress is a major factor
Stress, diet, weight (% body fat more precisely), sleep and general well being are all major contributory factors when it comes to blood pressure.

However, stress is often overlooked when it comes to blood pressure. Often when people go to the Doctors surgery/hospital, it can be a stressful situation which can lead to an elevated blood pressure. This is often called 'white coat syndrome', and is a well known medical issue.

Stress in small amounts triggers the body's fight or flight mechanism. Stress in a prolonged elevated state is not good for us at all in many ways.

Do those of you diagnosed with hypertension receive lifestyle/dietary advice and instruction? Or does your GP just offer medication and send on your way?

Mostly advice from things that showed up from the MOT blood tests - I don't remember anything specifically to do with the blood pressure, partly I think because it can arise from multiple causes.

Yeah. I was diagnosed type 2 two years ago. ‘Here are your metformin. Off you go’

Then you’re forced to read online and the horror stories. It isn’t rocket science of course it’s not, but some guidance would be welcome.

The main cause is lifestyle.

GP's are being lazy and negligent if that is not addressed.
