Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 27 - Out on blue 6 - Gone Too Soon (pg 438)

The big advantage of this format is that it was possible to find yourself not that fussed about anything in a short playlist. With this approach I would have thought that was pretty unlikely.

Loads again that I've liked on this list, and thanks to @Out on blue 6 for bringing the other worldly Broadcast to my attention. Had never heard of them, very sad what happened to Trish Keenan.

Yeah you are right. Once I take my own out of it, and ones I know or that would at some point pop up on my autoplay, there is still probably 30-40 songs that I wouldn't otherwise have gone for or known about.

I've heard most of it as it came in, but this week will be for going through this mammoth playlist (ironic as I was going to finish off with Wooly Mammoth by Local Natives). There is a fair bit of variety in there as well, so bound to be things that will stick.

One of the many great songs cut from Woodface, but appears on the Afterglow compilation:-

"Sacred Cow" - Crowded House
Slightly off topic but I've just had an email saying Crowded House are playing Blenheim Palace in June with support from Sheryl Crow and Turin Brakes. Thought this might be of interest to you as I believe your a big fan

I am indeed a big fan of Crowded House (seen them several times) and also Sheryl Crow (who I've seen once).

Having said that, I'm not sure I'd travel all the way to Blenheim Palace for a gig, but thanks for the heads up anyway.

Just seen a question on House of Games that reminds me we have all missed one of the greatest animal songs of all time:-

“A Horse With No Name” - America

Looking at the majority of choices everyone seems to go more obscure songs otherwise you would have more mainstream hits.
Cool for cats- squeeze
Wild horses - rolling stones
Hound dog - Elvis .
Black horse and cherry tree - KT tunstall. Etc etc.

With Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Aerosmith, Cat Stevens, REM, Crowded House, Zappa etc, I don't think there is much of a claim that folk went overly obscure. Particularly if KT Tunstall and Squeeze are meant to be more mainstream than that.

There probably is a bit of tailoring to the overriding taste here, I for example avoided anything rap after the last round, or overly heavy etc.

Queen Bee - Johnny Flynn

Greenland Whale Fisheries - The Pogues

Seagull - Bad Company
We're in the "listening week" now where we don't usually update the playlist.

For the last few weeks, we've been using the first week of the playlist to build it and then the second week listening - otherwise we'd have even bigger playlists and we wouldn't be able to keep up!
