Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 27 - Out on blue 6 - Gone Too Soon (pg 438)

Only one song I can pick today.

Forza Jannik!

“Sinner” - Neil Finn
Indeed!

I knew well enough to get my tennis watching in before checking in here today, not sure how long that match would go.

And that was quite the final AO match too. I was impressed with Medvedev's approach to the first 2 sets (1 point away from a Golden Set there), but it only took a single break each in the 3rd and 4th for this one to go....

"The Distance" - Live

It was a well deserved championship for the young Italian after finishing off the Joker!

I have a confession - we were all set to watch the match and after the first two sets, just couldn’t bear to watch anymore. So we went for a drive and a walk ....... obviously checking the score periodically. Watched the last set on catchup when we got home (already knowing the result).

So we missed out really, but so happy for Sinner.

Today's pick is Depeche Mode: "Personal Jesus". Not because I'm feeling religious but because it is my favourite DM song and all being well, I will see them in concert tonight for the first time.
I meant to reply on this but forgot. I never looked at this song as religious, and here's a good explanation by Martin Gore of DM fwiw:

The big winner, vivaldi. Yea what a surprise, a fantastic piece of music sounds good and moves you. But it was actually a pretty bold and timely curveball. Everything but the girl a close second. Enjoyed My Bacon Roll, and Ryan Bingham surprised me. For a dude with a cowboy hat, leaning on a classic american car somewhere in the southwest. Aerosmith maybe dont get the credit they deserve. The black Keys and Foo Fighters songs gave it a bit of energy. Dave Brubeck Quarted good, Black Pumas Good. Finally a few great blasts from the past forgotten movers in The Damned, Linkin Park, Silverskun Pickups, Muse, Slipknott and TFF.

I'm afraid I've struggled with this playlist. It's not any better or worse than previous playlists, it's just the slog of getting through so many songs it feels like a chore.

There were plenty of classics that I either enjoyed or skipped because I knew them off by heart (I'm sure you know which ones).

My favourites from BimboBob's original selection were "Cold as Ice" and "Mr. Blue Sky".

Some older but less familiar and new stuff that I enjoyed were songs by: Seryn, Stevie Wonder, Vivaldi, The Black Keys, Michael Kiwanuka, Lefties Soul Connection, Dave Brubeck, Buddy Guy and Live.
