Bluemoon Angling Thread

just setting off now on a fishing trip on the Thames near Windsor for a few days. Looking forward to it.

Lovely piece of water. What other species are there other than bream?

Usual roach, perch, gudgeon, rudd, chub, dace and pike. I understand that there are large barbel but I haven't caught any. Over the last 13 years this has been my "home" river and I've had the odd bream and chub to 3lbs and, on a different stretch, a carp of about 13lbs. There appears to be a mass of small fish but not many bigger. Pike are also troublesome when you are after little ones. Gorgeous place to sit and wait though.

The surroundings are at least half the pleasure. Tight lines mate.

Tight lines mate. Joined BAA this year, do you no any of their stretches on Avon, and if so which one is best?

I don't but they do have the stretch above this one at Wasperton. In fact, it's between two Leamington AA stretches so I joined BAA in January so I could fish the whole Wasperton stretch. Haven't had time to try the BAA stretch yet but should imagine it's little different to this one.

For what it's worth, I've had 4 fish today. 2 small perch and 2 bream. Unbelievably, and I'm conscious this sounds like made up bollocks, the first was yet another new river pb for me weighing in at 5lbs 6ozs. The other, which I have just this second returned, was slightly smaller but not far off 5lbs.

I'll spare you the photo because I'm on my own and the selfie doesn't do justice to either the fish or my handsome features.

Well in NN. You're sitting on a shoal there fella, fill yer boots: )

Had this out of one of our club waters yesterday. As you can probably tell tricky to get in that net. Really chuffed because it was on the pole - size 16 hook and a single grain of corn. Just under 21lb weighed in the net that weighs just under 1lb wet so I reckon a smidge under 20lb.IMG_20210710_140149.jpg

Makes that net look like the ones we had as kids for tadpoling! Lovely common.
