Bluemoon's Official Top 100 Favourite Manchester City Players

Mark didn’t you ask people to send their ‘favourite players’ list to you? This is very different to top players. Maybe you should amend your thread title

It's favourites and BH always does favourites on his polls. I would certainly have voted differently to what I have if it was greatest players; although there would have been plenty of similarity in names if not positions (in list) but some players I chose would not be in my top 20 greatest.

I find it hard to believe Berti is really anyone's favourite and joke entries are a bit of a shame but each to their own: this is meant to be fun.

90 - Nedum Onuoha 6/21

Chinedum "Nedum" Onuoha (born 12 November 1986) is an English former professional footballer. He typically played as a centre back, but could also play at right back or left back.

Onuoha progressed through the age groups in Manchester City's youth academy since joining in 1996 at age ten and played regularly for club's reserves in the 2003–04 season. He had his first involvement with the Manchester City first team in the 2004–05 pre-season, playing in a friendly against Bury.

89 - Trevor Morley 4/24

Trevor William Morley (born 20 March 1961) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker in the Football League for Northampton Town, Manchester City, West Ham United and Reading, as well as for Norwegian clubs Brann and Sogndal.

Morley was signed by manager Mel Machin for Manchester City in January 1988 as part of an exchange deal that saw Tony Adcock move to the County Ground. The deal valued Morley at £235,000. He made his debut for City 23 January 1988 in a 2–0 home defeat by Aston Villa.[9] He scored 18 league goals for Manchester City, including the equaliser at Bradford City on the last day of the 1988–89 season that meant Manchester City won promotion, a point ahead of Crystal Palace. On 23 September 1989, he put City 2–0 ahead in the famous 5–1 derby win over Manchester United in the First Division. When manager Machin was sacked by Manchester City chairman Peter Swales, his replacement Howard Kendall saw no place in his side for Morley.

88 - Kyle Walker 6/25

Kyle Andrew Walker (born 28 May 1990) is an English professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Premier League club Manchester City and the England national team.

On 14 July 2017, Walker signed a five-year contract with Tottenham's Premier League rivals Manchester City, in a transfer reported to be worth an initial £45 million fee, rising to £50 million with add-ons, making it one of the most expensive football transfers.

He made his competitive debut for City against Brighton on 12 August 2017, a game where many media outlets labelled him as the best player. However, during Walker's home debut for Manchester City he was sent off for two yellow card offences against Everton, which was thought to be a harsh decision by referee Bobby Madley. Walker was selected and part of the squad that beat Arsenal 3–0 at Wembley Stadium in the 2018 EFL Cup Final to claim his and City's first trophy of the 2017–18 season.

Walker signed a new contract with the club in June 2019

87 - Trevor Francis 6/26

Trevor John Francis (born 19 April 1954) is an English former footballer who played as a forward for a number of clubs in England, Scotland, Italy and the United States. In 1979 he became Britain's first £1 million player following his transfer from Birmingham City to Nottingham Forest. He scored the winning goal for Forest in the 1979 European Cup final against Malmö. He won the European Cup again with the club the following year. At international level, he played for England 52 times between 1976 and 1986, scoring 12 goals, and played at the 1982 FIFA World Cup.

He was sold to Manchester City in September 1981, this time for £1.2 million. The deal caused behind-the-scenes friction at Manchester City. During negotiations City chairman Peter Swales informed manager John Bond that the club could not afford the transfer fee. Bond then issued an ultimatum: if Francis did not sign, Bond would resign. Francis made a promising start at the club, scoring two goals against Stoke City on his debut, but over the course of the season he was frequently injured. In total he scored 12 goals in 26 games and made the England squad for the 1982 World Cup.

In December 1961 he made his debut in a 4–1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers, deputising for the injured Bert Trautmann. Unable to continue playing in goal, he moved to centre-forward, where he scored the equalising goal.

During Manchester City's championship winning 1967–68 season, Dowd lost his first team place through injury to Ken Mulhearn, and made only seven first team appearances therefore missing out on a League Championship Medal. However, he regained his place the following season, and played on the winning side in the 1969 FA Cup final, where Manchester City beat Leicester City 1–0.

Two Tricky Trevs in one batch. I didn't get as far as listing 100 players when I complied my 20 but I had quite a lot of players who nearly made the 20. Neither of them was on that list but I reckon both would be in my 100.

Kyle definitely would be in 100 and thought he'd be higher than this.

Ned probably would make the 100.

Going back to The Trevors, both are inextricably linked to two of the best away days ever.

Trevor Francis' debut saw one of the best travelling supports that I ever experienced.

Morley of course was a key figure on that day in Bradford. He also takes me back to when I still went to have my haircut: he was a family friend of my hairdresser. One of many City players that was underrated by his own fans.
