good p*ss up tonight at the blues in business meeting, Q&A with lakey and "bob" brightwell...

i was on a table with ticket for schalke...

so good that the ex-players give up their time for a room of 50/60 blues and share their innermost feelings on their career and the club...

some things to come out of tonight...

SOMEONE LIKE MOURINHO MIGHT MAKE A 1% DIFFERENCE IN A WAY THAT MANCINI COULDNT (MANCINI STILL DOING A GREAT JOB THOUGH) AND WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN COME THE SUMMER...

IN TERMS OF LAKEY - HE HAS A BOOK COMING OUT NEXT FATHERS DAY , IN WHICH HE SPILLS THE BEANS ON WHAT HE REALLY FELT WHILST HIS INJURY RECOUPERATIOJ WAS BEING COMPLETELY MISMANGED BY THOSE IN CHARGE AT THE TIME... IF YOU THINK YOU ALREADY KNOW IT ALL ABOUT LAKEYS INJURY...BE PREPARED, YOU DON'T

LAKEY REFERS TO UNITED FANS AS NORWICH FANS AT ONE POINT WHICH WENT DOWN WELL

ARSENAL DID WANT BOB FOR £2M, PETER REID JUST TOLD HIM, HE WASN'T GOING ANYWHERE - THINGS WERE DIFFERENT THEN...

PLANS FOR THE NEW STADIUM ARE "UNBELIEVABLE" - NO SPECIFIC DETAILS CAN BE SHARED BUT SUFFICE TO SAY THE 80,000 DREAM IS SOMETHING THAT EVERYONE AT THE CLUB WANTS TO DELIVER... WE COULD HAVE SOLD 85,000 TICKETS AGAINST HAMBURG SO IF TICKET PRICES ARE RIGHT WE CAN GET ALL THE LASPSED BLUES IN MANCHESTER TO FILL AN EXTENDED GROUND

PLENTY OF GOOD STORIES ABOUT THE CLUB BETWEEN THE YEARS OF 1985 AND 1995 , SWALES AND LEE ERAS...

PLENTY OF OPIONONS FROM THE FLOOR ON MR GARRY COOK, WITH RESPONSES FROM THE TOP TABLE THAT "WHATEVER YOU THINK OF HIM OR HIS COMMENTS HE HAS BROUGHT IN SOME IMPORTANT PEOPLE BEHIND THE SCENES WHO CAN ONLY BENEFIT THE CLUB'S INFRASTRUCTURE"

If anyone who is involved in business in Manchester and is a big blue check out the "blues in business" group www.bluesin.biz - please support it, we raised a few hundred quid for charity tonight for a young City fan from the prestwich area who desperately needs a wheelchair

lakey and bob - 2 city greats and 2 gents who gave their time (again) for free tonight...

ps... apologies for the caps lock, i have had 2 bottles of wine and 4 bottles of san miguel and i am mullered, cheers..

Arsenal wanted Brightwell for Kevin Campbell plus £1M in about 1991.

I saw that in the paper anyway.

i put the £2m figure to him and he said, yeah they were in for me twice when they were champions but reidy said "you're not going anywhere"

mcmahon apparently was a bad influence in the d/room , he went round saying"i've played for england, i'm better than you lot" one comment was "steve mcmahon was only ever interested in steve mcmahon not manchester city"
and he saw his arse when horton f*cked him off for flitty and lomas in the midfield

Good post mate some interesting points there! Was there any talk of when this new stadium was being proposed to be built? Are we talking next year or within the next 5?

top quality Lakey, he never knew me from Adam and helped in getting my knee sorted out when the NHS didn't want to know.

in his own words he was the guinea pig for edghill and quinnho, city had him insured for a paltry sum and flew him back from the states economy class, nullyfing all the work he'd done over there, a tradgedy and as a person top class

the stuff isnt for public consumption at the mo,so no timescales... suffice to say, 60000 we could fill, 80000 we need to win trophies and thats when the gloryhunters will come along...

were you there tonight ? one lad who had a similar injury was talking to lake about his experiences, mental torture as well as the physical stuff ...

Lake had innovative surgery didn't he, transplanted ligaments from a young doner (a drug dealer who had been shot was the myth??).

Quinn had his done over here, not sure about Edgehill.

John Salako did have the same as Lake I believe, and carried on for a long time.

the thing is, if someone at city would have phoned 3/4 top people at other clubs and said "where shoukld we send him for treatment" he would probably got the right treatment...even though we insured him for a paltry amount, it was the price of a phonecall that could have saved his career

I know there was a big problem.

It is in Niall Quinn's book.

Quinn went behind he club's back to get a specialist that Alan Shearer recomended, and in the end it worked out.

I was at the game against Villa when he did his knee and prayed he would eventually get back to fitness.I remember the MEN following his progress during his recovery.
I can still see him laying off the pass for David White's goal against QPR in the first Sky Monday night game....he only played another 45 minutes after that against Boro I think.

Top player.Top man.

He played in a front 3 v QPR with White and Quinn, all involved for that goal.

The hairs on the back of my neck stood up when i saw that,£15 adults £5 children for every game.

they run it as a business, £15 every game isn't going to happen, a balance must be struck..

85k for hamburg dont belive that for 1 min

If the prices are right - makes sense.

We would a sell a lot at £5 adults ans £1 kids but it would not be sustainable.
