Through our highs and lows of this season, we've lost some of this: perspective.

This season has seen us achieve our highest ever Premier League points total, highest ever position coming into this stage of the season, and some games that will live long in the memory. Just a little reminder for you blues who think we've under performed this season.

City 4-2 Arsenal
City 4-2 Chelsea
City 6-1 Burnley
City 2-1 United
City 2-1 Chelsea

Now, I know what you're thinking: 'oh, we only got 1 point of Hull all season'. Yes, I understand that, but this is a positive post, and I'd kill to keep it that way. Can we agree on that? Yes? Thanks. You all need to just look at the positive side of this season and I know that must be really really hard for some of you, but I think after an emphatic win such as the one we've seen today, I though this would be the perfect time to post this. You're all in happy spirits? Some of you may be drunk, and some of you may be just returning from Turf Moor having just seen the best first half the club has ever witnessed in its Premier League history. But lets take a trip back down memory lane shall we, to the dark days of Stuart Pearce, and the back end of Kevin Keegan's tenure? There we were, losing 1-0 to Bolton. Keegan was sacked. A shit goal to give away to the most annoying person in football: El-Hadji Diouf. The little scumbag. That game was the end for Keegan, who resigned the following day. We then went 6 weeks without a manager. Who do we then replace him with? Stuart Pearce...thats who! Okay, in the beginning we nearly got European football, and we were 4th before Christmas under him. But after the cringeworthy, 'Beaney' incident, it all went a bit shite didn't it? We nearly went down and the club was going nowhere. We scored 10 goals at home all season for god sake.

Now look at where we are, and how far we've come in 3 years: Carling Cup semi-final, playing nice football at long last, and we're in the top 4 in April! I know you lot have been through worse than I have with City and I know I wasn't one of those that lost 3-0 to York, or anything. But I've seen the shite. What we have now is something to be more than thankful for. We've been guilty of biting off more than we can chew this season. The money that we have spent made us think irrationally under Hughes, but we've gotten over that little burden and found ourselves an Italian master. Someone who has gelled the team in double quick time, albeit with the mistake (and now hinderence) of Vieira. Lets give Roberto time, shall we?

Forza Mancini, and well done today. Thank you for a wonderful season, and thank you to Mark Hughes too. But the man we need to thank most is Sheik Mansour, for giving us this wonderful oppurtunity to take on the world. Thank you for installing your faith in us, even though we're the only club in the world that could have somebody die of boredom and a heart attack, all in the same game.

We love you City. Even if you are the soap opera team.

Surely if you measure performance, without considering factors like resources, money, squad quality you are lacking perspective.

We shouldn't judge by what we've done in the past. We are a totally different prospect now, and what would have been an achievement in years gone by could be seen as a failure now.

And IMO it's only right that is the case.

Okay.
Thanks for replying too. :)

Fair shout for actualy contributing positively to the forum, unlike some of the shitbags that lack brains and most of all, bolox, fair play mate. I must say one thing on this thread, we owe our future to Stuart Pearce whose passion alone driven us to safety,if we would have gone down then i have much doubt we would be in this position now. Thankyou Mr. Pearce, you will always have a place in my heart.

I tend to agree, but i think its also right to measure against past seasons as its the best way to show progression... after that factor in everything else but if were moving up in the league year after year that progression. If the progression continues we'd eventually win the league. Regardless of any other factors and that's be all that matters in the end.

Patronising for large swathes of the orginal post but you have a point, cleverly augmented by invoking memories of the cretin Diouf's winner.

op nearly had me crying in ma Guinness, but hey,he's right. What a fukn season we've had.Even if we don't get the 4th spot,we'll be at least 6th.That was my "wannabe" at the start of the season, and if we get C.L. next season......................then fukn brill.....i...ant....lets go back 10 years ago to where were, fukn scary eh....CTID.

i love where we have come. i love the owners and i would trust them with my life. i think they have made all the right decisions so far and i cant thank them enough. i pinch myself that we have carlos tevez. a united hero rejects them and comes to us. i remember when real madrid first signed robinho and looking with great admiration and then he signed for us. we are finally becoming a team that our loyal fans can be proud of. its just aswell as the support was beginning to decline. not only have the arabs saved the football club but we are now a threat to european football and hopefully our team and fans will grace the big stages such as the nou camp and san siro.
