I was having an argument with them lot.. and I was trying to look back as far as I could, I already had them in a vice grip stating that back in 1981 when ManUre broke the transfer record for £1.5M that was a £1.4M increase from 20 years ago (1961) from Torino's £100,000 for Dennis Law from City, I proceeded to say lets fast forward from 1981 to 2001 (20 years later) when ManUre broke the record again but this time for £28.1M and made it abundantly clear that it was a £26.6M increase in again 20 years.
Suffice it to say they couldn't think of any come back but then got onto the subject of Mancini being an over-rated Baconface wannabe!
The only argument I had was that he had won the same cup in as many years as Baconface did................
but then a swift bordem look up on tinterweb I found something that I've never bothered looking into before (also I was like still a baby during the late 80's so have no recollection of these events) that being Baconchops finished 11th in his first season and 2nd his his second season but only making top 4 once in his first 4 years of management at the swamp, also winning the FA Cup on his FOURTH not second but FOURTH attempt (1989-1990 season)
Now if I was being generous I would class us finishing 5th (2 seasons ago) as Mancini's first season...... but I'm not so I'm going to include his first FULL season (last season) where he finished 3rd (joint 2nd with Chelsea) and also won the FA Cup. Also I picked up on some intresting stats for Mancini, whist at City Mancini has:
Managed - 88 games
Winning - 50
Drawing - 19
Loosing - 19
Win success rate - 56.82%
I know he's had the financial backing of one of the richest owners in the world but lets not forget someone else who was in the exact position 3 years ago as Mancini is now...
Mark Hughes
Managed - 77 games
Winning - 36
Drawing - 15
Loosing - 26
Win success rate - 46.75%
It's not really about the money but more of the person who spends it, if I was manager of City spending cash left right and centre I very much doubt I could even keep us up.
