All of them have Chelsea marginally in front of City in what looks like a horse race. I can't understand why that should be, surely as champions finishing the season strongly and with new signings in the bag we're the more likely favourites?

But Chelsea have offloaded David Luiz - thats gonna help them

Did you mean a TWO horse race?

Last season was last season.

Bookies went with Chelsea.

No big deal.

I think Chelsea would be right as favourites this season. They have added Fabregas and Costa who they missed badly a goalscorer that will get goals cost them the title last year. They done the double over us and Liverpool so for them to be favourites with the bookies at the moment is a no brainer. Once Yaya clears up if he stays or goes it will be joint favourites with the bookies.

Bookies win money over time which suggests their knowledge of the odds are pretty good.
Odds will fluctuate but in this case It may reflect the fact that last season they looked seriously short of a striker and have now got one which may improve them considerably, not to mention Fabregas and Courtois Many of their better players with the exception of Terry are young and improving whereas with the exception of Aguero many of our best ones were pretty close to their peak in terms of age and although not really going past it I hope may not improve so much.
We also have a small matter of headline news about discontent with our best player from last season and though I am hopeful that he will come back and play well, the odds are certainly not zero that he will not.

None of this is to say that I personally have Chelsea as favourites but I can see why a neutral with a book to make might see it that way.

In all honesty small differences in odds at this stage of the pre-seaon mean little

we have the most settled and consistent squad over the last 3 seasons , we have got rid of the controversial element of our club (mancini , balotelli , tevez) the majority of our players are in their prime 25-28 years old , and a manager who is experienced and who has man management skills second to none . MP has also realised , there are no easy games in the premiership , and will not make the same mistakes like the early away games of last season.
I ve just took 9/4 at bet 365 , its stealing money.

I'm not too worried about that, actually. I used to support them before Sheikhy Bossman showed up, so I've got a soft spot for them anyway.

I would say Chelsea were favourites for next season. They've bought two world class players who will add a lot to an already very good squad. Last year they did the double over both us and Liverpool and i think they will be a big threat this year.

I still think we will win it but I do worry about our strikers. Aguero is injury prone, negredo is off form and may leave, jokevic is also injury prone and although I rate dzeko he does still have a tendency to miss a lot of chances.

We are not favourites because of the YaYa uncertainty. Simple as that. If he turned round and said he's staying we would probably be marginal favourites.
I'm happy where we are thanks.
