Born Winner

Prestwich I happen to believe and I am pretty sure i am right that were any of us (obviously excluding the fact there may be one or two on here who are fairly high level coaches) would if we were managing a club be absolute disasters and be lucky to last a week.

i doubt anyone on here could earn the respect of the players, could out manouver other top clash coaches, could deal with all the players, could deal with the minutia of football.

i play footy, manage people, have watched it for the best part of 30 years but I know were I given the job I would be lucky to last a week at a top club and the same would apply to Serie A as here.

Inter won because they were the best non cheating team and Inter far from being regular title winners were a team who had struggled for a while - top coaches went there, got money and failed.

Since the day he was appointed I have been a stout defender of Mancini. I have tried to see the bigger picture and the growing pains we were going through while Roberto implemented his master plan. I was prepared to be patient.

I supported his appointment simply because he was seen as a born winner. He had done it all with Inter and I was confident he would do the same at City.

I was prepared to put up with less than entertaining football because he was a born winner.

I was prepared to put up with all the stories about unrest and unhappiness within the squad because he was a born winner.

I was prepared to give the man time because he was a born winner.

But strip away the "born winner" facade and you're left with little else to commend his managerial role. This isn't a "Mancini Out" post, just the first crack in my faith in his ability to be that born winner.

Born winners win... not send out teams that are clearly going to fail.

I just feel really let down after last night...
He's just a wealthy foreign moron!

Yet another ridiculous overreaction of a topic...

...injuries, big games coming up. He did the right thing, it just didn't work out. This forum would be raving about how amazing the academy players and Mancini are if we had have won.pffff

I am so pleased that you addressed that point. It is conveniently forgotten by those who say that Mancini was gifted the first title. He was gifted it because the teams above him cheated their way above his team. Talk about manipulating things to suit an argument.

People saying Mancini is a born winner are maniuplating the facts for an argument. He's one of the most fortunate Managers of all time. The fact is that Inter were handed their first title after the other Clubs were fined (they didn't "win" it as such) and then the competition was reduced after that. Inter did not win the title. They were given it. It should've been void, IMHO.

I'm still trying to work out whether he wanted to win or not last night. His post match comments suggest that he did and so did the Players he put on the bench. Bringing Milner and the others on was a tactic to try and save the game and perhaps win in extra time.

The Mancini Fans claiming it's only the Carling Cup and nothing to be bothered about are going against what the Manager almost definitely wanted.

10 minutes of me before the match and I have converted you,now for Gaz

Some very good points raised, Im gutted as this was our best chance of a trophy especially when you look at the sides still in the cup.

What gets me is the constant 'injuries' excuses, Mancini has a rigorous two training sessions a day im lead to believe n the amount of uneccesary injuries picked up are down to him anyway in alot o cases.

Listen mate, you know that you are my footballing guru and the only person at City I can have a serious conversation about City with... certainly not Gaz!

But you were right and I was being a happy clappy. But 90 minutes of that shite has changed my softly-softly approach as from now on.

The gloves are off!

i think last he made a massive error of judgement. if you look at the last couple of winners of this trophy and you will see its not a mickey mouse as it used to be, both Chelsea and utd regular win this trophy and why?? because they are winners and have a winning mentality.

This was a big chance to get the 34 years off out back and for the players to get that taste of success. After all look at Chelsea when they started the revolution, it was the first of their trophies!
