Boro Post Match thread

Not at all surprised after Sunday/Thursday/Early Sunday fixtures.

Nothing was going to fix the almighty problems we have in key positions.
if we do not improve the rest of the season we will have to get used to Thursday Sunday.

I thought yesterday was the low point in the season tbh.

Pep's tactics were horrendous.

I don't care if he adjusted at half time. At that stage the damage was done as we wasted 45 minutes with Clichy doing absolutely nothing and stagnating any push forward.

Kun & Jesus couldn't get a sniff and Kev was far too advanced, taking himself out of the game.

So half time came and he hooked Clichy thankfully, but hung Aleix Garcia out to dry. Garcia wasn't the problem, the formation was. I get that it didn't work, but it was plain as day never going to.

Second half we looked far better without looking better if that makes any sense. All the possession but we really struggled to create anything of merit.

The only high point for me was Kun's assist, it really was a great ball. Jesus took it well, but overall Boro did a good job on our forwards.

We're struggling massively in midfield and the full back issue is a joke. Nobody is going to convince me Angelino or Zincenko couldn't have done better this season in that role.

Is that the same angelino that couldn't get a game in la liga's 2nd tier and zinchenko that can get a game in holland? We are fucked if we are pinning hopes on those two.

Still doesn't make up for the ones we didn't play for and dropped points though does it;-)

Sterling should have gone down in that one. It was a pen but he should have gone over before shooting. Shit decision though.

We are trying to win football matches. Just not trying to do it the same way as Mourinho for example tries to win football matches. Both managers want to win.

Mourinho, like Pep, is one of the most successful coaches ever, but also with a wealth of Premier League experience &, like Pep, has 100s of millions of quids worth of players, & he is struggling to win football matches. Yet he is as cynical & 'game management' focussed as it's possible to be. But they keep dropping points in spite of it.

Just because you want to win, doesn't mean you win.

We are trying to do something Mourinho etc can't do. He can't get at team to play fotball the way Pep has done.

If Pep can't do it, then he will evetually go & we will have to settle for being one team amongst five or six, buying players & hoping it works out, same as Utd, Chelsa, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool.

If he can do it, then the Premier league will have City plus four or five others trying to keep up with us.

This is our one chance, to try & build something better, than our opponents can build. we won't get another. If Pep fails, then the future is that we are in that pack of 6, for good.
Fully agree, great post

It was a good day out yesterday in Boro, the match was pretty forgettable. I think we were fortunate getting the pen, if we had had that given against us I don't think we would have been happy. Not sure what it was yesterday but we just didn't really look at the races. Praying Silva is back for the Palace game.
