Both my kids spoilt again for christmas.

My mate is from Liverpool, he got his kids a huge trampoline, one of those mini range rovers they can drive round the garden in and a mountain bike each for Christmas for free of the internet. I asked him which website, I should have known he'd say Google Earth !!

If he is I want pictures of his missus with her norks out.
Nope, this....

This is ridiculous. My 15 and 13 year old have received the following for Xmas.....

Me and the mrs: £300 each money in a card., £300 JD sports voucher, approximately £100 worth of 'stocking fillers' each, amazon echo each.

Grandparents: £100 each in a card from maternal and paternal grandparents. Mountain bike for son, Ipad for daughter.

Auntie: £40 each in a card.

That's £2400 spent on two children. I love em, they're my kids, I know they'll appreciate it, but fuck me!
Fucking hell. I thought I was a shallow **** and my values had gone to shit throwing a couple of hundred each in presents at my two. I honestly don't know how you do it - we (that's us and the kids) honestly struggle to think of stuff they want/need beyond a couple of hundred quid.

Without going OTT, our two children (twins) will be well looked after.

However, barring sentimental things (teddies, personal gifts from us/grand parents, and a few other toys) all their toys that they no longer play with, or no longer show interest in, will be given away to charities for other children.

Our daughter was rushed to hospital about a year ago with suspected sepsis, thankfully she is fine now. But an enduring memory for me was when my wife sent me a photo of our daughter in the hospital (I was away with work) and she was in the play area when feeling better, and she had toys to play with. The smile on her face from something so simple, yet probably taken for granted by most of us, made me well up. She simply had a few toys to play with and enjoy, and it made her two days in hospital so much better.

In terms of Christmas, not all children will wake up tomorrow quite so fortunate, and that saddens me.

We'll always gift a few toys where we can. It really will make a difference to some.
