Bournemouth (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

He is nearly at the same point Fergie was in his last season at United.

He was desperate for new signings and it was evident the Glazers weren't playing ball. So he flogged what he had into the ground, and left the club with players that were once very good in their prime to ones that couldn't do it anymore.

We have been screaming out for major investment for years now, but keep buying the wrong type of players. We should have signed a RB years ago and let him rotate with Kyle so that he is ready to step up when Walkers time is at an end. Which should have been at the end of last season.

The same can be said with KDB.

And in a few years we will be saying the same about Stones.

If the way this season has started continues - we can't keep getting away with these awful displays of football. Then not a chance Pep will sign an extension. He can't be happy watching games similar to what he witnessed today. Games like today have been coming. We have gotten away with it over the last few weeks!!!
Pep will not leave us in the lurch !!

We've not hit anything like our top form this season with injuries, illness and players arriving back late from the euros.

The playing schedule ( travel but not training) is ludicrous which is why clubs with plenty of internationals & teams in Europe have such patchy form....Arse, Dips, Villa and City etc.

Mid table clubs with few internationals and no Europe have a certain advantage particularly if they throw the Carabo early.

Not complaining, because we will come through our sticky patch, but there are some mitigating factors.

We have the resources and attraction to buy in January and particularly the summer.

Unless matters change its unlikely that any club will do a treble never mind a quadruple or 4 in a row.

What this squad has achieved under the circumstances is truly remarkable !!

Can’t say that I’m that arsed. With the state of the squad at the minute, I was expecting a tough game. I said in the pre match thread Pep should go with the youth for this one as they’ve got the legs. Would Mcatee be doing any worst than Gundo at the minute?
Problem with McAtee is that when he gets a chance, he doesn’t grab it and say you can’t drop me now. His performance against Spurs was lacklustre and I thought he was outshone by O’Reilly.

For me, Nunes needs to move into the middle now to see if he can do it there and Doku can come back in.

Watching the blues since 1972 watching a defeat is nothing new. Pep is the best manager in the world and we will never see anything like him again. We will probably never win as much again. We have had so many good times that back in the day many of us thought would never ever happen. It’s beyond any of our wildest dreams. However, I think we are at a crossroads. The players at Spurs smiling after defeat, and today there did not seem the anger after a defeat. We have a lot of injuries for sure. Yes we have had difficult periods the last few years and come through it. Today just felt different. There just did not seem the hunger out there on and off the field today. It’s very clear we need a rebuild. There are a lot of ‘star’ players to phase out, and we need to bring in good younger players. If Pep were to commit to two or preferably three seasons, we can rebuild and go again which would be preferable. Where I disagree with a lot of posters is that I think one year buys us nothing longer term. If we are to rebuild we need to that with the new manager taking us forwards. You do wonder if the players know something. I think playing some of the youngsters e.g., Wright etc would have provided us with more valuable insight than defeat without. At the end of the day, no matter what happens on and off the field, the one thing we blues are good at is support in any difficult times. We will always go again.

I loved gundog in his last year, he was so inspirational. When I heard he was returning I was stoked. Some might say don't go back, and I have to agree, Hès been stinking the place out since he returned, though there's more pressure on him with Kevin out. almost as bad as Walker who looks shot. Anyway, up the blues, we are still second!

A truly horrible performance apart from the last 10 minutes. It is sad to see the state of Kyle Walker. He has been great for us but they targeted him today. His legs have gone. Mind you Ake was also poor, and Gundo. We will need to buy in January to refresh the team. This result has been coming for some time. The only positive is Arsenal also looked terrible and Liverpool not much better either today. We are still in this battle but Pep will have to find a magic solution to our midfield. No Rodri and no KDB looks a bridge too far for us.

You can’t lose the heart of your team and expect to be the same team.

Losing those 2 at the same time has proved very difficult indeed.
