According to Jason Wilcox, the club did their own research that over the past decade, on average 9/11 players starting in a Champions League quarter-final* and above was playing regular senior football at 18. The top players in the world start playing early.
When your own club is coming up with research like that, how can you expect kids to be happy at 2 or 3 league cup games a season and maybe a meaningless champions league game with the other kids if we win the group early?
The road block is the prem league not many clubs are giving 17/18 year olds a run, especially the top six clubs.
