Seems to stem from a bad tempered FA Cup replay in the 70s.What's the beef with Palace anyway, what started it?

Never forgiven them for blowing the 1983 Cup final against the scum.
Oh that miss from Gordon Smith.
Beef with Palace? It goes back to the mid 1970s.It kicked off around 1974 when Palace played the first game of the season at the Goldstone. They’d just been relegated from Div.2 and thought they were the Billy Big Bollocks but we’re beaten 1-0. For the next six years we matched each other in going up the divisions. Brighton fans hated Palace and vice versa. It got really tasty when Alan Mullery became Brighton’s manager and Terry Venables took over at Palace. They couldn’t stand each other when they both played for Spurs and it filtered down from there onto the pitch with the players. So it’s certainly a weird rivalry and NOT the f***ing M23 derby as the media like to call it. Just a case of we hate them, they hate us.Something a lot in Brighton can relate to,
"being shoved down our throats at every opportunity" :-)
Don't mind Clubs like Brighton doing well, new ground, probably some new local support too, stops em from being Rags or Dippers which can't be bad.
But when they start having a pop at us! A Club that had more ups and downs over 20 years but we kept decent crowds relative to the time and circumstances (Geordies, Chelsea and a few others take note) then its gloves off for Blues.

I Remember a huge 30 a side game of football on our estate park before the final. Half the boys chanting seagulls seagulls and the other half seaweed seaweed.Never forgiven them for blowing the 1983 Cup final against the scum.

Covid checks seem to have evaporated. Brighton were very stringent in the first couple of home games but not since. When we played Leicester and Arsenal there were no checks or at our away games at Brentford and Norwich that I went to. Having said that I have updated my Covid app on the phone - just in case.Anyone know if they are doing Covid checks at Brighton? My lad is going and was asking but I haven’t a clue.
I woz there! Alan Mullery who was the Brighton manager at the time was going ballistic. Palace went 1-0 up, we were awarded a penalty scored from it then the ref (Challis of Palace) had it retaken because a Palace player was encroaching, and it was saved. Then we had a good goal disallowed. We lost 1-0 Mullers got the hump, a Palace fan chucked a cup of coffee over him, Mullers grabbed a load of loose change and threw it their fans saying “That’s all your worth Palace!”, flicked them a load of ‘V’ signs and stormed off - absolute legend!Seems to stem from a bad tempered FA Cup replay in the 70s.
