Premier League Stats
The PL era stats look great ... six played, six won ... but even going before that Brighton has never won a league away game against us in last ten attempts (drawn 2, lost 8) and this is going all the way back to 1983 ...
We are clearly the form team ... having won last three in a row in the league after the two draws ... but not just in the league as we have then added (to those three league wins) another two back to back cup wins as well ... and another one in between that run (Arsenal in the cup) to make it six in a row ...
Pre-Match Thoughts
For the record, I never like when a junior ref is put in the middle with the whistle but heavy weights are roaming the touchline as fourth official and on VAR.
This is where the run of relatively easy games (at least on paper) start for us ... also we are at home in four of our next five league games ... but what this season has shown us so far is anyone can actually beat anyone or at least hold them off for a draw and now is the time to really crack on and not even consider draws but to go for win, win win ...
We play three games at home now ... this Wednesday against Brighton, then Palace on Sunday and finally Villa on next Wednesday. What's also significant is that over this period most of our opponents at the top of the table only play twice and we are catching up with one game in hand (the Villa one, which was supposed to be our season opener). We would still be one behind (that recent Everton postponement), but still the way the table is shaped at present and with Scouse playing Scum against each other next weekend, if we win these next three games, we could actually climb to the very top of the table as well.
Match Prediction
Won't predict how many we'd score ... but as the saying goes ... "In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes ... and perhaps a Stones-Dias clean-sheet"
C'mon City!!
PS. Don't get caught out by the unusual early kick-off time for the midweek.
